In 2008, Mr. Richard Moore, Director of Development for the UB School of Nursing decided to transition a successful career in philanthropic development to follow his passion and take a journey on a new career path. This led to the writing of a book entitled, “Sharing Stories, Healing Ourselves and Our World” (A journey into the power within us). The book consists of a collection of stories related to him by nurses and other “healers” and is written as a fusion of prose and poetry. It focuses on wellness, healing and other supportive measures as communicated to him by nurses and other wellness professionals. In a recent interview, Dick explained that the School of Nursing nurtured his desire to write and the people he met while at the school served as his primary inspiration for his book. He had the privilege of speaking to countless nurses throughout his career and chose to honor the nursing profession and all wellness professionals by sharing their collective wisdom. He credits many here at the School of Nursing, as well as his family with offering him the opportunity and support to pursue this new career direction.
